“with a cup of tea in your hand, anything is possible”
The beginning of November has been a little bit intense. I am working on new products for my shop, I am trying to find a part time job, I am attending classes twice a week at the university and joined an online course. On top of all that I am in an emotional roller coaster, struggling to find time to set down and plan properly. I sometimes feel like despite all of this I am not doing anything at all. Maybe that lack of feedback and physical interaction with family and close friends hit me harder on some days more than others. How simple yet important it is to go out for a cup of coffee with a friend or a family member, to chat, brainstorm or just to sit and empty you mind. In a strange city where everyone you meet with is new and is from a totally different background from the one you grew up in, trying to express yourself in another language, can sometimes be a little bit too much. As much as living on your own in a cosmopolitan city can be empowering and self-esteem booster, some days it can be overwhelming. Through out the past few weeks I feel like I am working nonstop but not having as much in return.
We as human beings, need communication and appreciation to help up going forward. And what do we do when we lack both?
If you are reading this and feel somehow similar, I am writing this for you. Being vulnerable is normal. It is better to deal with the feeling bad and down and lost than ignoring it. If you are not being satisfied with your creations or where your career is at, if you have a dream that with every step you take closer seem that the dream is even further away that before, it is normal.
Never giving up is not only about working hard every single day without stopping, it can also be a single thought or a word you say to your self. Even in a day that all you can find is a tiny amount of inner strength, and even without seeing an instant result for all the effort you put in something, you have to remind yourself of what took you this far. Even, Write a letter for yourself mentioning all the great things and rewards you once had. Remember how it felt when you were at the most glorious day. If you aren’t able to remember any ( which is nearly impossible!), try to imagine what would it be like.
When we work so hard to accomplish something, of course we will have higher expectations. But recently i am coming to believe that working hard, with focus and passion and joy for the thing we create, following your heart and what its trying to tell you is the biggest favor you can do for yourself. Even if it was against your schedules or plans. The external attention and appreciation may come and go. But your heart is always there to listen, to speak for you.
Never forget that the sea and the waves are always ready to welcome all the anger and madness in you. The herbal tea is always there to calm your nerves. And the memories, the memories of what was once there, the hunger and desire to meet the days of your dreams are what will keep us going. ♥
